October 2012 (2)

19 October 2012 at 20:34 (Poems/Poetry) (, , , , )

sick from spewing city smokes
run eyes over small ads, anticipated day off
reminds what we cannot afford. Expenses
cradle young generation, in worn out hands
plural solitude weights on us

we hold a breath, easily pretend
that things could never be better
underdogs poke, complain, demand refund
sensation of worry
kicking at heels
is flushed in public toilets. We won’t rest
knees pulled to chest give stomachache, but we step across
chronological habits

weekly slow waltz
will rummage for bus tickets
washing off disappointment
from pale nails; foretell a platform
concrete dressing
taking us to work where always envy bosses
to be so unerring, spending over thirty minutes
on company expense lunches (13th October 2012)
